Juventus are stronger than Roma and Como in Serie A top-four race, says Conceicao
Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao believes the Bianconeri are stronger than Roma and Como as the three teams battle it out for a Champions League spot.
Luciano Spalletti’s side are currently sixth in Serie A, just one point behind both fifth-placed Roma and fourth-placed Como ahead of Juventus’ trip to Udinese on Saturday.
According to the Opta supercomputer, Como are favourites to clinch the final Champions League spot, with a 38.3% likelihood, while the probability of Roma and Juventus finishing in the top four comes in at 32.9% and 35.4%, respectively.
Since Spalletti’s arrival at Juventus (October 30), the Bianconeri have picked up the third-most points in Serie A (35 from 19 matches, the exact same as Como and Napoli), behind only Inter (49) and AC Milan (42).
Conceicao backs Juventus to finish in the top four, insisting that they must qualify for Europe’s elite competition.
“I’d say Juve, I don’t care about which of the others make it. I care that we are there and that’s what we’re working for,” said Conceicao when asked who he thinks will finish fourth in Serie A.
“We know we have the quality to stay [in the Champions League]. We have to work hard and win the game [against Udinese]. We have to stay in the Champions League; we have the quality to do it.
“For me, we’re stronger, but we have to show it. We have to win to stay up there, and we have to prove ourselves.”
